If you want to sound like The Edge in U2 it seems to be a perfect asset

They really are pushing the delays aren't they. The sound clips on the Line 6 website are almost all delay effects.
Interesting, but I think it's like most Line 6 products: fun to play with for a while but not really useful in a practical application.

Yeah, a lot of delay demos. But some sounded quite nice and beautiful. The ODs were less impressive but not not totally crap. It's probably a good thing to have in the studio.

Yes, several good demos there. This is the first Line 6 product that I actually find interesting.

i love the line 6 for 3 reasons
1) i can play late at night with headphones
2) it is easy to get a decent sound recording wise to build your chops
3) tons of different sounds in a little box
i would never play with it live or run it into an amp

Any particular Line 6 product that you are talking about?

I would agree with the above if you mean a POD or some of their other amp modeling products.

Again, I agree if you are talking about PODs, but I don't agree if you include some of their stomp boxes

I've tried many of the Line 6 POD products: Flextone I, POD & POD Pro, POD live. Truthfully, I was disappointed by all of them. The effects were very good (in most cases) but the amp models weren't very good IMO. Nothing compares to the real thing right.
Anyway, I like this board because it is just the effects, no amp modeling. It is designed to work with your amp and I believe it can even be connected with the old 4 cable method.
Something to note though, the od/distortion pedals usually don't sound as good as the real deal & the Univibe & Rotary speaker effects generally suck. However, their delays & modulation effects (choruses, phasers, reverbs etc.) are very good. Plus this pedal has a 28 sec. looper which is VERY useful when writing songs.

I have the Tone Port UX2, it is a usb recorder with model amps. I have to agree with you TonyC that it will never sound or have the warmth of a tube amp and I cant imagine using it all the time. Bit its fun to jam with when you are by yourself and when its late at night you can just use headphones. Its great for recording because its quick and easy. Its also great for guitarists first starting off because you dont have to fool around with an amp to get decent sounds. Its only $140 now. I got mine about 3 years ago when it was $200. Im sure you can even get one cheaper on Ebay. Anyways just click on my myspace link and give them a listen and give me your opinion.

At home I use amp modeling products, but I use software stuff in my DAW. I live in an apartment and it's impossible to record an amp at home... I'm not much for bedroom levels anyway. I never liked the POD myself, I think the dynamic feeling is really bad. The stuff in my DAW is not perfect either but at least it gives me the possibility to try out ideas, or to practice with half a decent sound. I use a plugin called Tubifex that runs on a TC Powercore card for older sounds and another plugin, Revalver MkII, for modern sounds. Stuff like this is getting better and better but still far from the organic complexity of the sound from a real amp. But it's better than nothing.
The M13 looks interesting because of the simple layout and the effects actually seem quite nice. It sure can be connected to your amp with the 4 cable method Rhino. It can even be connected to two amps with the 4 cable method since the loop is entirely in stereo. I've been thinking about running two heads, two VMs, or my VM and a Metroamp 1968 Era 100 Watt Replica, both at the same time. I've been looking for a board that could handle the 4 cable method and two heads for stereo effects... and there it is - the Line 6 M13

You have to do whatever makes you happy. I would buy it at a place where you can try it for 30 days.
